Our Story
Sacred Transitions started in 2017 as the passion project of Rebecca Price-Wood and Katie O'Day. Both had been practicing midwifery for years and watched maternal and infant mortality, postpartum mood disorders, and incidences of birth trauma steadily rise over the years. Katie created a beautiful, nurturing postpartum protocol, and Rebecca became prenatal clinical director. Rebecca and Katie put the plan in action for what was, at the time, revolutionary maternity care. We knew so many mothers struggle in silence with the physical and emotional toll pregnancy, birth, and parenthood can sometimes take. Sacred Transitions introduced revolutionary practices to our community by implementing postpartum support groups, where mothers can gather to share their experiences, fears, and joys, and we educated them on the importance of self-care and mental health, offering holistic remedies and therapies to aid their recovery.
Over the years, Sacred Transitions' reputation grew. We have become the go-to midwifery practice for expectant mothers throughout the New Hampshire/Vermont area. We are known for our authentic loving demeanor, deep understanding of the childbearing year, and our keen intuition in guiding parents through childbirth and far beyond.

In 2019, we began our partnership with The Monadnock Birth Center thereby expanding our ability to care for those who want to birth outside of the hospital, but not quite at home.

Katie Retired from midwifery in 2019 and Rebecca became the owner of the practice. Since that time, our commitment to ethical healthcare practices is evident in everything we do. We believe in true informed consent, involving the parents in every decision and ensuring they understand their options and are comfortable with their choices. We treat each mother and child with respect and kindness, embracing the diversity of backgrounds and beliefs within our community. Sacred Transitions is a haven of inclusivity, where every family feels heard, valued, and supported.
As word of Sacred Transitions' postpartum care practices and ethical approach to healthcare spread, other midwives, nurses, and even physicians have sought guidance and training. We willingly share our knowledge, and over time, we have fostered a network of healthcare providers who are dedicated to a holistic approach that prioritizes the wellbeing of both patients and providers.
Over time, Katie and Rebecca's work has become more than just a personal calling; it has grown into a thriving midwifery practice with a team of like-minded individuals who share our passion for ethical healthcare.
In the end, it is our hope that our dedication to the values of compassion, inclusivity, and ethical healthcare has birthed a midwifery practice that will transcend generations. May the practice remain a place where mothers find solace and the support they need to embark on their motherhood journeys with confidence and grace.
